Potassium (K) fertilization enhances anthocyanin accumulation and red coloration of apples by compensation of some of the negative effects of higher nitrogen rates on apple coloration.
The high nitrogen reduces redness by increasing the leaves, thereby reducing the light into the crown. Excessive nitrogen can also be used to inhibit the production of green apple cultivation, such as "Grandma Smith", which is unwavering. For fruit setting, when the level of nitrogen is too high, the fruit color development is delayed. If other factors are the same, every 0.1% increase in leaf nitrogen will decrease by about 5% on fruits coloring.
